YAY AAA!

Paul Kohli was the first attendee to book a room at the Nu Hotel and he has informed us if you have AAA and mention it, you get another $30 off the room rate.

Way to be thrifty in these tough economic times, thanks Kohli!

Orientation.

The thing we're most excited about is having all of our family and friends together in one place for a big party. And we mean BIG.

The second thing we're most excited about is having our ceremony and celebration right in our neighborhood. Over the past 3 years we've really come to love Brooklyn and can't wait to share some of our favorite spots with you.

We've reserved room blocks at two hotels that are both super convenient to all wedding festivities. The hotels are also situated close to great bars, restaurants, streets and parks. So if you like, you'll be able to get a real feel for our neighborhood.

We do understand that some people will want to stay in Manhattan, but we hope everyone reserves a little time to get to know Brooklyn. Our area is very easy to get to from Manhattan either by subway or taxi.

Both the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott and the Nu Hotel are holding rooms at the exact same rate and reservations should be made NO LATER THEN June 14th 2009. After this date the hotels are free to increase their rates back to the normal prices. So don't lollygag.

The rooms are held under the Cordes/Anderson Wedding

The Nu Hotel  • 718.852.8585

The Nu Hotel is more euro/boutiquey and is closer to Smith Street, a main drag in Brooklyn that has great shops, bars and restaurants.

The Brooklyn Bridge Marriott  •  718.246.7000

The Marriott is a few blocks away from the Nu Hotel, with nice sized rooms (especially for NYC) and has lovely views of the bridge (if you get a room facing the bridge).

THE dress.

I ordered it. But you can't see it.

But I'll give you some hints, it's white and long.

Use your imaginations!

I do have to admit, even though I never believed it, you do kinda get that this is THE DRESS moment. Or maybe I was just high on lace, tafetta and 2 cafe mocha's.

Above image for placement only, not representative of actual dress purchased.

Room with a view.

After two snowy weekends of tromping through the 5 boroughs (pre-disabled Mark) we have come to a decision on a venue. The lucky winner is Pochron Studios. A studio space in Dumbo Brooklyn. For those of you who aren't familiar with our hood Dumbo stands for "down under the Manhattan bridge (O)" not sure what the O stands for but I imagine they didn't want to just call the area Dumb, that wouldn't be nice.

Anyway, It's one of our favorite areas in Brooklyn, situated right next to Brooklyn Bridge Park along the luscious East River (not the one planes land in, the other one).

The space is located on the 11th floor of a loft building and has an adjoining roof deck. The view looks out on the Manhattan Bridge and across to midtown with nice clear views of the Empire State building. This should make for some nice Kodak moments so charge your digi's.

Speed Dating.

We have a date so stop asking.

We've decided to test our planning and organizational skills by setting the date a mere six months away.

I wish.

Actually we had little to do with this decision. Apparently finding a space and an available date in NYC is very similar to trying to find an apt here. You race around seeing as many places as possible, then call one to find out it has already been taken by the skinny blonde girl who was also looking at it the same time as you. Bitch. So you keep calling down the list until someone tells you they actually have some availability. That availability is a Sunday in February (dark, first floor apt in Park Slope but new dishwasher) or a Saturday in August ("cozy" one bedroom in Boerum Hill but no dishwasher) . I'll take it where do I sign!

The "cozy" apt (date in August) quickly becomes the best decision you've ever made because its your own, and in this city any space (or date) you can call your own is something to fall in love with.

So August 1, 2009 it is. Get ready for some hot fun in the summertime.
